World food day / food makes the world go round

Food is one of the blessings of Allah TA essential to our survival, so why do we waste it so carelessly? Why do we not remember those who go to sleep hungry every day? Out of the food we consume every day, one thirds is wasted.

The most food wastage occurs in our homes. On the occasion of World Food Day, 16th October 2021, students of Saifiyah Girls School came together with the resolution to stop the wastage of food, starting from their own homes as well as spreading the message to the rest of the community members as well. This message was accompanied by the sweet dish of Kalamro, (distributed amongst four Mohallas) as a display of gratitude for all the bounties received during the Safar Mubarak of Aqa Moula Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS with which a card displaying the statistics of places where food is wasted.

The next day, beginning with an informative display, juniors and seniors presented the different ways in which food is grown and processed, and how easily it is thrown away every day, along with the resolution to not let a single grain go to waste from now on. Then, classes II and III engaged in making a fruit salad, while students of class X then proceeded towards Saleh and Adam Mohalla to participate in the distribution of Kalamro and spreading the message of ‘Zero Wastage’ to the community members through colorful charts and depictions, with a resolution to strive towards stopping Food Wastage.
